Life After Amsterdam is a striking work by French–Beninese Canadian artist Kim Ahonoukoun, whose modern Impressionist style has quietly grown into a compelling voice on the international art stage. Known for paintings that radiate tranquillity and depth, Kim brings a contemporary approach to the timeless subject of waterlilies.

This painting reflects a fascination with the fleeting beauty of nature. Through layered brushstrokes, shifting tones, and luminous colour, Life After Amsterdam explores the harmony between water and flora. The composition invites viewers to lose themselves in its calm surface, where movement and stillness exist together.

Kim’s work builds on the legacy of Claude Monet while introducing a distinctive, modern dimension. Innovative three-dimensional effects add texture and tactility, engaging not just the eye but the senses. Colour and light are manipulated with precision, creating a luminous quality that transforms the viewing experience into something deeply personal.

The story behind the artist is as extraordinary as the work itself. Kim began painting at the age of 35 after a transformative moment during meditation, a late beginning that led to an extraordinary career.

Today, with studios in Florida and London, her paintings are sought after by collectors around the world. She has twice been named Artist-in-Residence at the Monet Immersive Experience in Miami and New York, painted live during Paris Fashion Week, collaborated with luxury brands, and exhibited in major cities including Paris, London, New York, and Madrid.

Life After Amsterdam is an invitation to pause, reflect, and enter a world shaped by colour, light and emotion.
