The Golden Hour 111 is a work by French–Beninese Canadian artist Kim Ahonoukoun, whose modern Impressionist style has been quietly reshaping the contemporary art landscape. Known for her meditative depictions of waterlilies, Kim transforms fleeting moments of light and reflection into paintings that speak to both serenity and resilience.
In this piece, Kim captures the glow of dusk through layered brushstrokes, shifting textures, and pastel tones. The Golden Hour 111 invites viewers into a space where time seems suspended, and the world is held in a golden hush.
Kim’s fascination with waterlilies pays homage to Claude Monet while forging a voice that is distinctly her own. With three-dimensional textures and a mastery of light, her paintings transcend the canvas, creating immersive experiences that stir both emotion and memory.
Her journey is as remarkable as her art. Having never painted before, Kim first picked up a brush at 35 after a life-changing meditation. Since then, she has established studios in Florida and London, exhibited internationally in Paris, New York, London, and Madrid, and twice been named Artist-in-Residence at the Monet Immersive Experience. Collectors around the world have embraced her work, with more than 65 of her waterlilies now in prominent collections.
The Golden Hour 111 is an invitation to pause, reflect, and experience the healing stillness of nature.
